Bloody Sockgate

Bloody Sockgate. The Sock that Never Was. Paint the Sock Red. He Said, He Said.

Two years after the fact, there are some who are questioning the sock.

Who cares. Does it really matter now?

The owner of the sock won the game against the Evil Empire. The team of said sock owner won the series that had the whole state stumbling about in sleepless stupor. Happy but sleep deprived. The Sox Nation finally had their day in the sun.

Just my $.02

Glimpse of Sun

The last four days have been glorious. The snow left us. The rain held off for awhile. Suddenly after the soaking, the sun shone on our corner. Breezy and cool at times but nonetheless cheery and so needed. Pollen had not invaded my senses (yet) so yesterday I took all four children to the local park. (Yes, four...My two girls and my friend's twin girls). I sat on the bench with sunglasses on (trying to be fashionable - utterly failing), i-pod on (another attempt) and an eye on the girls. Temperature climbed (to the 70's) and we reveled in it.

Rain is coming at the end of the week. I'll do yard work while the construction continues inside (one more week they say - we'll see about that). Colin is away (to China - visiting the Terracotta Warrior in Xian - lucky man) so I'll spruce up the outside for him. Or at least try (I'm not much of a gardener). When the rain comes, I'll focus on jewelry. A big shipment coming in later this week just in time.

P.S. It was 86F today. Good breeze - enough to make your hair whip around to not achieve the gently touseled look. Styling with hair gel was moot. Did not do yard work but did lift the phone to leave a message with the lawn guys (to please come make the lawn look like the neighbors - twig-less and almost acorn-free).

Home Stretch

We picked the colors for the kitchen. Our color consultant (namely our neighbor Jim the artist) helped us iron out the details. So we told Sean the contractor who told the painters. Yellow on north and south walls in the family room. Blue on the north and south walls in the kitchen. Off white on the east and west walls.

The painters prepped the walls days before and paint rollers were out yesterday. I stepped out for a moment and came back. The painters were rolling out the blue in the family room and as I stand there admiring the hue ...YIKES. I hollered "STOP!"
Yellow family room, blue kitchen. Caught it in time.

Now if the holes on granite countertop are in the right place ?!!???

Dice-K, Sushi and Red Sox

Last Friday, we headed to Oishii. Mmmmm...sushi. We ordered the usual. Tokyo Style Soft Shell Crab Maki. Shiitake Mushroom Tempura Maki (Lauren's personal favorite). Then we tried a (Daisuke) Matsuzaka Maki. Heaven's alive..it was good.

He's pitching in a few minutes in Fenway. All I can say is that he better be good or the maki is off the batting order.

Go Sox.

Smell of Easter

It started on Saturday. Colin boiled eggs outside on our camp stove (no appliance yet in the new kitchen). The combination of pungent vinegar and boiled eggs permeated the house. It could only mean one thing: Easter eggs.

This year our efforts extended to making swirled/tie dyed colored eggs. However, we needed a goth egg to stand apart from the pastel orbs. I first dipped it in orange, then blue, then purple. It wasn't dark enough so I submerged it in red. I forgot it for awhile. It was not the black egg I was aiming for but dark purple. Purple Haze Egg.

It is now Monday, the egg/vinegar smell still lingers. Here's the aftermath after an egg hunt in the house.

Floored

Green slate with radiant heating for winter. Cool!

Next up: Wall paint - will it be green, blue or yellow? Tune in.

Everyone Asleep

But not me.

No. I am up writing emails to others and myself. Yes, to myself. To remind my forgetful self about things that I should not forget (but knowing me, I will eventually will forget unless I write things down). So I email reminders to myself. Better than going around town with a post-it on my forehead.

Lauren and Emma invited their friend Cady to climb on Saturday. They had a great time. I did feel a teensy bit envious. Wanted to climb myself but had to be satisfied with bouldering a bit. I would have posted pictures but the camera is upstairs in my bag and I don't want to exert any more energy that I really have to. Will do so tomorrow.

UCLA made it to Final Four but didn't get past the guys in orange. Sigh. I have no desire to watch the Finals on Monday. Will just have to watch Bizarre Foods on Travel Channel. Much more interesting.

I am now sufficiently tired. I will read my email first thing in the morning.
