Sabra's Mermaid

Last year I made a gift for my good friend Sabra. She has a mermaid weathervane on top of her garage and I thought making a smaller version would be a good gift. This year, I submitted Sabra's mermaid to a student show at DeCordova. I used a sheet of copper. I pierced, drilled and hammered her to shape. I actually think that her profile is like Emma's.

Searching High and Low for Roti

When we traveled to Asia in 2005, we came upon an Indian bread called Roti. It is a flatbread that is tender and eaten with curry. We searched the web for recipes. We tried to recreate this in our kitchen with some minimal success and maximum mess. Finally at a local Indian market, I found several frozen breads. We liked one called Porotta but it was not the fluffy tender roti we searched for until I came across this:














Mission accomplished.

Emma at Ballet















Emma's class had an observation day for parents. She takes my breath away. When her hair is in a bun and she is wearing her leotards, she becomes Emma the ballerina.
