Venice

Aaahhhh, Venice!

After a weekend in Slovenia, we drove back to Venice Marco Polo Ariport to return the rental car and hopped on a water taxi that would take us to Venice. The weather was perfectly warm and the crowds were manageable. Our lodging, Palazzo Sant'Angelo, was right on the Grand Canal and mere yards from the vaporetto stop.
We downloaded Rick Steves audioguide beforehand and had fun following it. Our favorite was riding the vaporetto around sunset. Walking around St. Marks Square at night and listening to the orchestra play Con Te Partiro, was one of the highlights. The food...from the pesce to dolci...almost unbearably good. The architecture, paintings, statues...to be surrounded in art was amazing.

Ljubljana

First of all, I did not know where Slovenia was on the map. Secondly, I did not know how to pronounce the capital of Slovenia. Lastly, I did not know that I would love this corner of the world.

We attended Carolina and Andrej wedding and had wonderful time. We found Ljubljana utterly charming. Dining by the river or walking around the town center with gelato, Colin and I relaxed and soaked in the city.
