4th of July for 27 People
We hosted my family for the Fourth of July week. It was ... INSANE! We had kids running around the house and adults happily catching up with one another. We had families from Toronto make the long drive to Boston, a family fly in from Florida and the rest from the West Coast. We were loud, chaotic and I wouldn't had wanted it any other way. We walked the Freedom Trail around Boston, ate at North End, rode the Duck on the Charles and explored Minute Man Park. We jammed on Rock Band, shuffled up and dealt poker and cued up the pool table.
It was great to see my nieces and nephews again. They including my girls are growing up in leaps and bounds. They reminded me of how the years pass by so quickly and with busy and conflicting schedules, get-togethers like this are rare. My sisters and I would reminisced about vacations at our grandparents house in Pangasinan when we were little. We, the children, would be happily playing with or hanging out with our cousins with no inkling of the whereabouts of our parents. I remember gathering Indian mangoes at my aunt's backyard. I remember drawing the lines on the dirt for Carpentero and choosing sides. I remember playing Chinese garters to see who can jump the highest. I cherished those times and I hope that I've given my girls the same beautiful moments with their cousins.
