40 at Turks and Caicos
Lovely. Turks and Caicos was lovely again. We were there 2 years ago and we visited Provo once again this time for my 40th. We stayed at the same resort (Northwest Point) and enjoyed every moment.
The girls shucked their sneakers at the airport and rummaged through their carry-ons for their flip-flops. And the moment we dropped off our luggage at the condo, we headed out to Da Conch Shack. Yeah, that's DA Conch Shack and not THE.
The following days were filled with lots of beach time, pool time and just plain kicking back time. The beauty of being at Northwest Point was its wildness. It was a bit more windier here. We were blessed with great weather and since it was off-season, less visitors. We did go to Grace Bay for snorkeling and for opportunities to replenish supply at the the grocery store.
It was simply and utterly blissful to spend hours by the shore reading my book with Colin and watching the girls play in the sand. There was no distraction in the form of crowds or noise unless the errant swooping pelican is considered a distraction. Lauren reveled in the warm water. She has been working on her diving while snorkeling. She can now dive deeper than I can and stay longer. Emma had decided that she will try her hand in snorkeling and did beautifully. On her first few trips, she saw not just one but THREE spiny lobster off Northwest and saw lots of turtles and a couple of rays at Grace Bay. Not bad for a first time.
For my birthday, we celebrated at Coyaba. An Arawak word for heavenly. And it was. Especially the Litchi Spinach Salad with Pork Belly. Even the girls raved about it. The chef was very kind to discuss the dish with us and even posed for a picture with the girls.
We meet lots of friendly people on this trip. The girls made friends with Emma from Northwest. The three girls played chess (yes, CHESS!), at the pool and beach. They were thrilled to find another playmate.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Provo. There were lots of moments that were absolutely amazing. One example was when we came upon a crab rush hour. The road was littered by crabs crossing the road from the east side to the west. We watched for awhile captivated by these crabs which were as big as my fist. We look forward to return again and maybe experience another memorable moment.
