Bobbing

Lauren's troop went white water rafting today (up to Class 3). We the parents thought it would give them character, an adventure, and a challenge. I think we the parents voted for this so that WE THE PARENTS can go white water rafting.

So off we went on a bright and semi-early Sunday morning to go west to Charlemont. Two hours later, (a large cup of coffee and a couple of donut holes for me) and two-thirds through Phantom of the Opera DVD, we were there. We were given our gear: a stylish wet suit, equally smashing boots and voluminous blue waterproof shell (which in fact is not so waterproof if you actually get IN the water).

Lauren volunteered for us to go in the front of the raft (to better see and feel the waves as it slop onto us). She also opted to go "swimming" which is more like bobbing in the water due to PFD (personal floating device). I in turn also went bobbing because I figured if I don't I will always wonder the "what if". Well, the "what if" was bracingly cold but fun. So I'm glad I did it once. Lauren, however, could not get enough so she went bobbing countless of times along with her two raft-mates.

All in all, Lauren had fun and I the parent did as well.
