Independence Day

Lauren is 11 today. Days leading to her birthday, she said that she wanted to bake her own cake. So this morning, Lauren with Colin's help baked a chocolate buttermilk cake in a horse-shaped pan. When it was cool, she frosted the cake all by herself (words and all). I think she did a splendid job. Of course, if you bake and frost the cake by yourself, it is your right to eat the frosting!















As for her birthday dinner, she chose Melting Pot Fondue Restaurant. She likes cheese and chocolate so its a perfect place for Lauren.

She is a young chef, an animal activist, a novice fashion designer, a world traveller and a budding pianist. She loves to read especially late into the night. She is loyal to her friends and a friend to her little sister.

Yes, she is eleven, this girl of mine.
